UDA Participates in National Dance Day
2010 was the first year that America celebrated National Dance Day, and in 2011 everything has been kicked up a notch! There are three routines this year, so everyone can participate regardless of age and ability. The official choreography includes a routine from Mary Murphy appropriate for all ages and abilities, an intermediate intensive routine from Robin Antin, and a routine from Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo that will challenge dancers who have already mastered some hip hop steps.
If you are attending a UDA Camp anytime between July 18 - July 30, you will have the opportunity to learn the routine from our UDA Staff during hip hop warm-up. In 2010, numerous clips of dancers performing the NDD routine at UDA camp appeared on the National Dance Day highlights on “So You Think You Can Dance.” If you have already attended UDA Summer Camp, you can still participate in National Dance Day and learn the routines. To obtain a link to the routines, just visit the UDA Facebook page.
Inspire others to dance! Teach one of the National Dance Day routines to a group of people, record your performance, and upload it to the UDA Facebook page. Here are a few different groups that you can teach the routine to and inspire to dance:
-Your dance team
-Your entire family
-A group of friends in your neighborhood
-Children at a preschool or daycare center
-Your parents and their co-workers
-A local gym, fitness class, or dance studio
